Gradient Tropical Sunset Nail Art

Holla back my lovely readers! Today I make a gradient tropical sunset design which should be as my summer nails before. Most gradient effect was made by using sponge. And this is my very first time using sponge to my nails. But I didn't use nail polish bcuz I thought it will take a lot nail polish than usual by using sponge technique. So what I use? Watercolor. You may have heard of using acrylic paint on nails, but watercolor? Not sure. Haha. Just take a look first!

Actually, I accidentally bought this watercolor paint which was supposed to be acrylic paint. I didn't know that I took the wrong paint bcuz they'r all look almost the same. I was thinking, because I had already bought it, why didn't I just use it for my sponge technique?. So, I give it a try and, Voila!

The texture of the surface is slightly rough. Kinda like matte effect. It's bcuz the water color that I use. So it's normal. But I personally still love the result. Just the palm trees looks a bit awkward there. I should added some birds or maybe clouds to make it feel more sunset.

Well, an acrylic paint and watercolor paint are just similar in many ways. They're both made of water as a diluent medium, non toxic so it's safe to use for kids, odorless, and fast dry. The difference, watercolor is very easily to washed out of water. Whereas acrylic paints quickly faded by the heat of the sun. (Correct me if I'm wrong though). But there is a special acrylic paint for nails, resistant to water and heat of the sun. So it can be used to hang out or to walk around with a bright or rain weather. That's what I'm looking for.

I try to add two layers of top coat here, just for comparison. It looks a bit shining and it doesn't make the water paint melt. So if someday you also want to use water color as your nail polish, added top coat isn't a bad idea.

That's all my gradient tropical sunset by using water color as nail polish. Well, how it looks? Does it work better than nail polish? Hope it doesn't looks weird. Hehe. If any of you have tried water color or acrylic paint as nail polish, let me know your thought. Thanks for reading and have a nice day everyone!
